New Zealand Resocialization Delegation and High:five visit CSWO: Inspiring for a brighter future

On Tuesday, we had another prominent visit. This time, all the way from New Zealand. The purpose of the visit was to inspire collaboration on a shared goal; Getting more former inmates into education or regular employment.

This week, High:five - who prepares the way for businesses who wish to help young people on the edge had the pleasure of hosting Dan Pallister-Coward, CEO of the Salisbury Street Foundation in New Zealand.

On the website of the initiative, it says:

He whakatauki ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi, engari taku toa he toa takatini.

It is Māori - the language of the Māori people, the indigenous population of mainland New Zealand - and it means: Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.

“There’s a shortage of skilled labor, and this is a great way to bring in good people. When we see that they’re actually stable, the next step is for them to start an apprenticeship—often in an adult apprenticeship position.”

Hans Ole Sannes, Apprentice Responsible, CS WIND Offshore

Building an offshore wind farm is definitely also the work of many, and it is therefore also a natural step for us to contribute to society by establing collaboration with people who have served a sentence, and are willing to make a new future for themselves.

On Monday, Dan Pallister-Coward met with Director of High:five, Ole Hessel in Copenhagen, Denmark to discuss High:five’s work.

On Tuesday, the visit continued in Aalborg, where Aalborg Municipality and High.five shared experiences on cross-sector collaboration—both before and after release.

The group then visited CS WIND Offshore headquarters in Aalborg, Denmark - as a High:five partner company. To learn from our experiences.

Here, Maslah and Nicki - who are both former inmates and now apprentices with us - shared their journey into employment and education with our guests.

“I’m really happy to have received an education and a job—it gives me a normal everyday life after having been in a dark place. My advice to others is: Keep your head high, never give up, and fight for what you want.”

Hans Ole also pointed out that company days at the Hammer Bakker Release Prison have been an important part of the journey — both to introduce CS WIND Offshore as a workplace and to inspire other inmates through stories like Maslah’s.

Maslah and Nicki will complete their education in March 2026 - a milestone both we and High:five are very proud of.

High.five says: "A big thank you to Hans Ole, Per Bomholt, and the entire team at CS WIND Offshore for showing how companies can help create hope and opportunities — and for inspiring both inmates and other companies. Thanks also to God Løsladelse in Aalborg Municipality for the sublime collaboration on our shared goal: getting more former inmates into education or regular employment."
