Meet Alberto Huerta Morales

Alberto Huerta Morales is an ESG Manager for CS WIND Offshore, whose journey from environmental engineering in Mexico to strategic sustainability management in Denmark reflects his core philosophy; Making sustainability a business driver.

“The more holistic approach to sustainability is what interested me. You can do many things in sustainability - I see my job to make clear which things are important to the business - and aiming to improve from within.”

Alberto Huerta Morales

Alberto's role is pivotal in navigating the increasing demands of the offshore wind industry. Alberto is deeply involved in supply chain sustainability, tackling issues from CO₂ reduction and green steel to ensuring ethical labor practices. He is also responsible for communicating these efforts to the outside world through detailed ESG questionnaires, which serve as the company's credentials. He has found that sustainability is no longer a side project but a key business driver, as clients expect greater responsibility in every tender.

“Our clients expect us to take responsibility beyond our own sites. Every tender asks for more — that’s when sustainability becomes a business driver,” he elaborates.

Alberto’s interest in sustainability began back in 2010 during his bachelor studies in Mexico. His passion for sustainability evolved from technical focus to a more business management approach. This focus brought him to Denmark where he completed a Master's degree and a PhD in Aalborg University in sustainability management.

“I like being at the table where decisions are made,  listening to arguments, and learning how to shape the direction of a company.”
